Buffalo Sabres winger Jeff Skinner had a career game against the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday

The Buffalo Sabres return to the KeyBank Center to face the Islanders with some momentum. Sure, they played the Columbus Blue Jackets well and beat the Canadiens; two of the league’s weaker teams.

But why spoil the fun? The Sabres, who have struggled to find twine all season are evolving into a stingy offensive unit, and it starts with the front three. Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson have had their moments; career seasons, even if Tuch has only played in 15 contests to date. But during the Super Sunday matinee, Skinner had the game of his life, becoming just the fourth Buffalo Sabre in the 21st century to log a four-goal game.

So, how did Skinner manage to score all four goals? It’s not just a testament to his raw ability. No, the reason Skinner played lights out on Sunday is a testament to the way he and his teammates, especially Tuch, are building chemistry.

Let’s break down all four of Jeff Skinner’s goals and you will see for yourself how they symbolize this budding chemistry. And a few more games like that, and we can rest assured that the franchise’s needle is finally pointing north. And for a visual, check out the video below:
