The Buffalo Sabres continue to be a team in transition, as their recent homestand showed

Two hat tricks from their top line in seven days and a hard-fought loss last Saturday to one of the NHL’s best teams shows how far the Buffalo Sabres have come. Yeah, they’re still a painful team to watch at times, but fans shouldn’t be happier with the progress.

Their top-trio has French Connection potential; okay, the franchise’s legendary top trio that graced the ice during the 1970s can never be replaced, but you get the gist. They’re putting up big numbers and more often than not, keeping the Sabres in games.

Inconsistency still keeps this team shuffling their lower lines, and one horrible outing against the Ottawa Senators last week proves how much turbulence still haunts the Sabres. But, they may have also found puzzle pieces for a legit second line.

So, will all of the above carry over into the final week of February? Let’s get bold.
