The Buffalo Sabres are on a little bit of a hot streak lately after beating one of the best teams in the NHL.

After a tough loss on Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Florida Panthers, the Buffalo Sabres rebounded against the Carolina Hurricanes last night. The team is in the middle of a gauntlet when it comes to facing the better teams in the league, but they are more than holding their own.

Looking at the Sabres schedule and who they beat, it’s impressive considering Buffalo was looked at as a bad team. They have beaten some playoff teams like the Vegas Golden Knights, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Carolina and Tampa Bay Lightning. Twice, they beat the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Buffalo Sabres are playing their best hockey of the season

Even in the games they lose, this team always shows fight. And it’s so refreshing considering what fans have been watching during the last decade.

A lot of that is credited to the coach and the system Don Granato has. Not only is it a good system but the talent he has is being used right which wasn’t the case when Ralph Krueger was in charge.

It’s a measuring stick win because it was another challenge for this young Sabres team. Just looking at their schedule dating back to March, they had to face playoff teams such as Florida, Nashville, the New York Rangers, Edmonton, Calgary, Washington Capitals, and Pittsburgh. Like I mentioned before, even in the games they lose, the team never gives up.

The gauntlet of playoff teams will continue tomorrow as Buffalo will travel to Carolina for another meeting with the Hurricanes before taking on Florida, Tampa Bay, Toronto and the St. Louis Blues. This stretch of games will be more good challenges for this young Sabres team and will tell Buffalo fans how good this core is.
