The Buffalo Sabres proved that March 2022 was no coincidence following their 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes
Instead of dreading playoff-caliber opponents these days, the Buffalo Sabres are embracing the challenge. And while many in the Sabres faithful believe they should be losing these contests to put themselves in a better position for this summer’s draft, most know better.
The Sabres need to keep up this hot streak as long as they can, build momentum for the offseason, and let the NHL know that their current squad can hang with and defeat anyone on any given night. And the Sabres are starting to at least make things routine by putting themselves in position to win games they otherwise wouldn’t have earlier in the year.
These days, bold predictions aren’t so bold. They’re more confident than anything else. So today’s list of four predictions, one for each game on the road trip, shouldn’t be so eye-popping. Yeah, earlier in the season, you would have thought them to be a little mind-blowing. But here in April 2022, it shouldn’t surprise you if all four of the following so-called “bold predictions” come true.
On this road trip, the Sabres will once again face the Hurricanes before they head to Sunrise for a grudge match against the Florida Panthers. They’ll travel across the state for a tilt with the Tampa Bay Lightning before heading north of the border for one more match with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Four straight games against some of the Eastern Conference’s best teams. But the Sabres already beat the Hurricanes once. They’ve blown out the Maple Leafs twice in recent memory, and the Lightning aren’t exactly lighting up the league these days.
The Panthers will be the tough test here. But then again, the Sabres recently clawed back and gave them a run this past Sunday. So anything and everything is possible.
This is the most exciting time to be a Sabres fan if you truly care about them winning games and building momentum as opposed to tanking for a higher draft pick. Because to be honest, the latter strategy has not worked over the past decade. Anyway, let’s get to these bold predictions.
