If the Buffalo Sabres land a goaltender like Ville Husso, they may solve their issues in the net. But how much will they pay for the fast-rising netminder?

The Buffalo Sabres are in a prime position to make some big moves this offseason. According to SpotTrac, they have more cap space than any other NHL team, which will give them immense flexibility in free agency.

With over $40 million of space, look for the Sabres to land either a prize free agent or to sign a fast-rising player. One player is Ville Husso, who compiled a 25-7-6 record with the St. Louis Blues this season to go with a 2.56 goals allowed average, and a 0.919 save percentage.

Ville Husso would be a perfect landing spot for the Buffalo Sabres

In late April, The Hockey News cited an article from from John Vogl of The Athletic, which listed the Buffalo Sabres as a potential landing spot for Husso. It has also been touched on that the Edmonton Oilers can also make a run.

The 27-year-old goaltender played on just a $750,000 contract over the past two seasons. But given his performances this past season, look for Husso to sign with a team in the neighborhood of $4 million over an extended timeframe.

While general manager Kevyn Adams cited he would like to sign a stopgap and re-sign Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Husso may be too sweet of a deal to pass up. Despite the potential top-dollar demands, Husso may come at a cheaper price than other goaltenders on the market like Jack Campbell of the Toronto Maple Leafs, or Darcy Kuemper of the Colorado Avalanche.

It is also possible that Adams is throwing smokescreens during his press conferences. So take anything he says, along with the other 31 NHL general managers, with a fine grain of salt. The big offseason moves are coming and Adams knows how much cap space he can realistically spend.
