The Buffalo Sabres have had it tough for the last 11 years with no playoff appearances. But they might be on the verge of pulling a 180.
The Buffalo Sabres finally appear to be putting a system in place that will make them a threat to light up the NHL for the next 11 seasons. Okay, so right now, that remark is nothing more than a bold prediction. But the chess pieces are in place for general manager Kevyn Adams to build a strong pipeline throughout the system.
Having three picks in the first round and 11 total draft picks always helps, but there is so much more to the increasing depth than that. Even with Jack Quinn and J.J. Peterka, among other prospects, slated to move up this season, the pipeline is still laden with talent.
Growing depth in the pipeline gives the Buffalo Sabres hope for today and in the future
In professional sports today, player movement is the norm. While you will see star players sometimes play either most of or an entire career with one franchise, it is a growing rarity. Kevyn Adams knows this, which is why a depth-filled pipeline literally from the AHL to the junior level, and finally, to college and overseas is so important.
Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News listed several notable prospects in the team’s system. However, he did not mention Quinn and Peterka as prospects. Ditto for goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, and forwards Brett Murray, Brandon Biro, and Arttu Ruotsalainen. All of whom except for Quinn and Peterka are restricted free agents who many believe the Sabres will re-sign.
So how much depth are we talking about for the Buffalo Sabres? Keep reading if you are looking to catch snapshots of all notable players in the system, starting with those who may find themselves donning the blue and gold next season.
Note that it’s important to remember not all of the players listed will wind up in Buffalo. This ultimate guide, however, is just good for sharing how much potential depth the Sabres truly have this season.
