The Buffalo Sabres hold the 106th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft. Let’s meet four potential prospects they may select.

Rounds four through seven is where things will get ticky tacky, and the Buffalo Sabres would do well to seek out prospects that have a lot of potential, regardless of position. It is also starting in Round 4 that the Sabres should start considering drafting a goaltender.

And while you won’t see any listed in this slideshow (spoiler alert!), you will see, in reality, general manager Kevyn Adams add at least one name to the system. Why? Because it’s so hard to find a viable franchise goaltender, period.

So the mentality should be for Adams to pick one each season until the Sabres land someone they are comfortable with in the net. But before we start talking about goaltenders, let’s touch on what this team may do with the 106th pick.

Targets for the Buffalo Sabres at 106th overall: Prospect #1 – Cameron Lund, C/Green Bay (USHL)

Before you ask, yes, that’s Luke Mittelstadt (brother of Casey) in the picture. Anyway, Lund has committed to play at Northeastern, where he will be teammates with Buffalo Sabres prospect, Devon Levi. His size is what makes him such a great fit to be drafted at 106th overall. Standing at 6’2, 192lb, he already has NHL-ready size. Now, he just needs to work on his game.

He played well for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, however, sinking 50 points and 25 goals with a quick release that defines his powerful shot. Lund also possesses incredible on-ice awareness, seemingly knowing where his teammates are at all times and is quick to get the puck over to them.

Defensively, he possesses incredible instincts and is quick to spot where a play is headed. This allows him to force opponents to change lanes, and it also disrupts their timing. However, he can get caught out of position when he locks his gaze onto opposing puck carriers for too long, a bad habit he needs to get rid of at Northeastern.
