With development camp in full swing, the Buffalo Sabres held day 2. Here are some takeaways from the second day of development camp.

With the Buffalo Sabres development camp in full swing, it was another chance for Sabres prospects to make a good first impression for management. With that being said, there are fans out there who want to know how the young guns did. Here are a couple of things that stood out in Day 2 of development camp.

The first takeaway was Owen Power. Buffalo’s 2021 first overall pick had a good day as the fans who were in attendance saw the young defenseman score a few goals. Buffalo fans got a small sample size of what Power can do not only defensively but offensively as well. They saw him join the offensive line rush or him taking the puck from his own blue line.

Jack Quinn was another player that stood out in the second day of development camp. Quinn was only with the Sabres for a couple of games because of injury but in the games he played, he was fun to watch. Today he camp, two things stood out to me.

First, his speed. The prospects did a couple of drills where they were in transition. While watching Quinn, when he did and didn’t have the puck, he was flying. He had a little jump in his skating and it was exciting to watch.

The other thing that was fun to watch was his passing. He made a difficult pass look easy, which was really impressive because if you played hockey like, then you know how hard it is to pass the puck around when you’re flying down the ice.

Krebs might just make the jump

Peyton Krebs was the last player that was impressive in Day 2. After having an impressive Day 1, Krebs picked up where he left off. In this one drill, two players had to skate down the ice into the offensive zone. After the drill was completed, one of the coaches would shoot a puck from the blue line and the players had to try and deflect the puck.

Not a lot of players were successful but Krebs was. He was able to deflect the puck into the net and he executed it perfectly. Lastly, Krebs showed Sabres fans his great shooting ability as he would one time the puck into the back of the net. It was a powerful shot and it was fun to see him unleash it because he does have a great shot.

The future of the Buffalo Sabres looks bright and a huge reason why is because of the prospects they have. These are the 3 biggest takeaways from Day 2 of development camp and we’ll see what happens as the season gets closer.
