Some Sabres fans are up in arms with Kevyn Adams not signing any big name free agents. Here is why everyone needs to relax and trust the process.

I’ve seen lots of Buffalo Sabres fans be annoyed with the lack of signings general manager Kevyn Adams has made. Which is fair considering the only players they signed who will be in the NHL are goaltender Eric Comrie and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and they aren’t attractive names like other players on the top of the free agency list.

Some people would disagree with me, but Kevyn Adams has a done a pretty good job with the Sabres. Say what you want to say about the Taylor Hall trade and the Jack Eichel situation, but overall, he deserves credit. I’m going to sound like Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott and say that Sabres fans need to trust the process.

Buffalo Sabres fans must trust the process and general manager Kevyn Adams

To those fans out there who are not happy with Adams, by all means you have a right to be. You’ve been waiting for the last 11 years for this team to improve and they haven’t. But hear me out: This core that the team has right now is good and in a couple of years, the Buffalo Sabres will become a contender.

Let’s be real, there was no way the Sabres were going to sign Johnny Gaudreau. Sure I wrote an article about why and why not they should target him. No one expected him to sign with Columbus but the point is, Buffalo never had a real shot.

Now who knows, this article could be published and Buffalo will sign a good player but fans need to trust Adams. As of now, the Sabres have the 3rd most cap space in the league. I still think Adams will sign or trade for a couple of players but here’s why I think he didn’t sign any big names yet.

He doesn’t want to break up the chemistry on this team. With the money, they’ll need to use to extend players like Tage Thompson, Dylan Cozens, Owen Power, etc. I’ll admit, I do wish he would’ve signed a player like André Burakovsky, Dylan Strome, or Kris Letang. But fans don’t know why those players didn’t want to sign with Buffalo.

They don’t know if Adams offered them contracts or not. What I’m trying to say Sabres fans, believe in this management. They have a core, they have surrounding talent in the AHL. It’s your right as a fan to be not happy but trust the process and hopefully it pays off. Like I said before, I do think he’ll sign a couple more players but try to be patient if you can.
