While we anxiously await the 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres season to begin, here are three ways to stay busy until October finally arrives.

Now that the NHL Draft is in the rearview mirror and free agency has calmed down, the waiting game for October has arrived. Most of the Buffalo Sabres have retreated to their respective homes to train and get ready for training camp in September.

But until that fateful time arrives when the days grow shorter and the air, cooler, the Sabres faithful must find a way to keep themselves occupied. Next to enjoying the cool winds coming in from the lakefront that makes the Queen City one of America’s preferred destinations as summer fades and the leaves start to change, there are a few more things you can enjoy while you wait for the games to count in October.

So, how can you spend your free time? Keep reading, because there are three phenomenal sports-related activities you can engage in to stay busy during the waning days of the Buffalo Sabres 2022 offseason.

How to stay busy during the Buffalo Sabres offseason: Activity #1 – Watch the IIHF World Junior Championship

On August 9th, 10 countries will get together for the IIHF World Junior Championship. And yes, odds are, you will see a few Buffalo Sabres prospects in action for this one. Now, plans are not yet confirmed as to who will be available for the second attempt at the 2022 IIHF World Juniors as COVID-19 knocked out the first attempt.

That said, I will list the Buffalo Sabres who were on their respective countries’ original rosters. For example, Owen Power was on Team Canada’s roster, but there is no guarantee that he will join Team Canada when the tournament rolls around for attempt number two. However, all players on the roster during the tournament’s first attempt are grandfathered in, so anything is possible.

From Czechia, Jakub Konecny and Jiri Kulich were on the roster when the tournament suspended operations. Isak Rosen was also on Sweden’s roster. Since the IIHF was forced to delay the tournament until August 2022, the rosters are not yet finalized, but you can receive updates at the IIHF’s official site.
