For the first time in a while, the Buffalo Sabres have a few players you want to watch out for prior to your 2022 fantasy hockey draft.

The Buffalo Sabres are not a high-demand team in fantasy hockey terms. Per NHL.com’s 2022-23 fantasy hockey rankings, Rasmus Dahlin is the highest-ranked Sabre at #100. So odds are, you will only be picking some Sabres early in your fantasy hockey draft if you are playing in medium to large leagues, roughly leagues between eight and 12 teams.

But if you play in some ultra-large leagues comprising over 12 teams, then the Sabres and players from even the lowest-scoring teams from a season ago will be on your radar. So today, I have three Buffalo Sabres that you need to keep an eye on in 2022-23, plus an honorable mention. Let’s meet these players.

Top 3 Buffalo Sabres to watch out for in fantasy hockey for 2022: Honorable Mention – Jeff Skinner, LW/Ranked 195

2021-22 Statistics: 80 games, 33 goals, 30 assists, 63 points, 262 shots on goal, +/- (-14), 20 blocks, 11 power play points, 0 shorthanded points

Skinner is not a player you will draft in most leagues, but this article is about players to watch, not necessarily players to draft. So I wanted to make Jeff Skinner an honorable mention because of his rebound season with the Buffalo Sabres in 2021-22.

He once again tied his career-high in points and finished the year with 33 goals, spending the season in high-octane mode after having teamed with Tage Thompson (115), and Alex Tuch (158). The reason I chose Skinner for this watch list over Thompson and Tuch is that he, the oldest of the trio, is most likely to be the forgotten man here.

Buffalo Sabres and fantasy hockey fans know Thompson and Tuch are going to build on their success from last season. Someone is going to draft Owen Power and Rasmus Dahlin. But Skinner is the player who I feel is the easiest one that fantasy hockey owners will overlook.
