The Buffalo Sabres will be playing in arguably the toughest division in the NHL. That said, they have a plethora of must-see games on their schedule.
The Buffalo Sabres are skating into the 2022-23 season with a lot of hope. They are a team looking to build on their late season success that saw them snag 35 points in the final 28 games. And better yet, this year’s version of the Sabres is one season older and one season more experienced.
And while they are still young and will definitely see some issues regarding their sheer youth spring up, odds are they will give fans an exciting 82-game season. And perhaps if they win a few more games, a spot in the playoffs. But hey, I would be happy with the team simply contending for a wild card, as it would spell immense growth.
I know many of you are looking forward to watching the Sabres in all 82 games this season. But even with an 82-game slate, the following games are your must-see matchups for 2022. Let’s check them out.
Breaking down the must-see games for the Buffalo Sabres in 2022-23: Game #1 – vs. Ottawa Senators, Thursday, October 13th at 7pm
Opening night is always a must-see event, but this season, you have two improved hockey teams going at it. On one side of the equation, the Buffalo Sabres will be facing their first test in showing both the fans and the NHL universe that March and April 2022 was not fools gold.
On the other end, the Ottawa Senators will be showing off their blockbuster offseason acquisitions that include Claude Giroux and Alex DeBrincat. Those top additions alone show that this is a different team than the one that stumbled to a seventh-place finish in the Atlantic last season.
So who has the upper hand here? You have one team with experience playing together and one that needs to build chemistry. It really comes down to how well the Senators build that chemistry. If it is there come the 13th, the Senators can win this one. But given the Sabes linear growth, they too can easily take it if the Senators prove they need time to mesh.
