PK Subban is still on the free agency market and the Buffalo Sabres could be a team who can use him. Here is why he could be a good fit.

PK Subban is one of the names on the free agency market right now. After John Klingberg signed with the Anaheim Ducks, people are wondering where Subban could go. At 33 years old, it seems like Subban is past his prime but, he could be a good depth signing for a team who’s looking to bolster up their blue line. One of those teams who could use another defenseman, the Buffalo Sabres.

While we’re still in the midst of free agency, it seems like the Sabres are satisfied with their blue line. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Subban signed with Buffalo. And to be honest, it could be a good fit for both sides.

There are many reasons P.K. Subban would be a good fit for the Buffalo Sabres

Starting off with Subban, he would a good mentor for some of the younger Sabres defenseman such as Owen Power and Rasmus Dahlin. As mentioned earlier, Subban seems to be on the downside of his career. Last season according to Hockey-Reference, Subban scored 5 goals and registered 17 assists in 77 games played with the New Jersey Devils last season.

While his stats are not that impressive, here’s why it could be a good idea to sign him. Not only because he could be a good mentor to the younger guys, but he would be a cheap signing. For someone his age, you can easily sign him to a good team friendly contract if you’re Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams.

I can see why fans wouldn’t want Subban. He’s not the same player that he was with the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators. However, he will most likely be a 2nd or 3rd pairing guy on this team. Personally, I wouldn’t be mad either way.

If Buffalo does sign him, then great. It’s another depth piece who can help out the young Sabres blue line. If not then it’s an opening for another roster spot. No matter what side of the argument you’re on, it’s something to consider.
