After having a good month of January, how will the Buffalo Sabres do in February? Here is a set of predictions for February 2023.
As we saw in the previous article, the Buffalo Sabres had a pretty good month of January. Record-wise, they are in pretty good shape. But with them playing in such a tough division, we don’t know what the playoff picture or the division standings look like.
Looking at the month of February, it’s going to be a tough stretch for the Sabres. In the 10 games that will be played in the month, seven of those are against playoff teams. Their opponents for those 10 games: The Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
A tough slate of games in February 2023 will lead to the Buffalo Sabres cooling off
Buffalo will start February off with a loss against a very good Hurricanes squad. The Sabres will have a long break as they will host the Calgary Flames 9 days after facing Carolina. I got Buffalo winning this one. After Calgary, the Sabres will head out to California for a 3 game road trip.
First up are the Kings and I think they will defeat the Sabres. However, the Sabres will bounce back against Anaheim and will also defeat San Jose to wrap up the trip. Before heading out to Florida with a back-to-back against the Lightning and Panthers, the Sabres will host the Maple Leafs at home.
Buffalo for some reason always gives Toronto a run for their money and I got the Sabres winning this one but either in overtime or a shootout. For the back-to-back Florida trip, Buffalo will take on the Lightning. Not only will the Sabres lose this one, but they will lose to Florida as well.
To wrap up February, the Sabres will have 2 home games. First, a date with Washington. Buffalo will once again lose this one but will get a point out of it. The last game of February has Buffalo hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. I got the Sabres winning this one.
February Record: 5-4-1 (11 points)
Overall Record: 33-19-8 (74 points)
Yes, the Buffalo Sabres are still in great shape. I know goaltending will be a concern but with this core of players, I truly do believe this team can have a good season.
