It’s the final month of predicting the NHL regular season. How will the Buffalo Sabres finish out 2022-23? Are the playoffs likely?

We have predicted six months of the Buffalo Sabres 2022-23 regular season. After having a decent month of March, this is the final month the Sabres can force their way into a playoff spot. This is it, this is the last record prediction for each month.

In the month of April, the Sabres will play seven games to close out the regular season. Two of those games will be played at home, so Buffalo will be on the road for a good part of the month of April. They will play the Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, and Ottawa Senators.

Will the Buffalo Sabres snag enough points to earn their first playoff berth in over 11 seasons?

Buffalo will start the month of April with a victory in Philadelphia. For the final time of the regular season, they will take on the Panthers and will lose this one. After two straight road games, their last stop on the road trip will be in Detroit. I got them losing this one but gaining a point in the defeat.

The team will finally come home for one of two home games in April. They will be hosting the Carolina Hurricanes and I have them losing this one as well. Their last back-to-back of the season has them facing the Rangers and Devils on the road.

They will lose to New York but will rebound with a win against the Devils. Buffalo hosted the Senators to open the season and they will host them to close out the season. I think the Sabres will finish strong with a victory against the Sens.

April Record: 3-3-1 (7 points)

Overall Record: 44-28-10 (98 points)

There you have it. We have made it to the conclusion of the regular season. I got the Sabres finishing with a record of 44-28-10 and they will finish the season with 98 points. This might be a bold prediction but as I said countless times, I think this team has what it takes to make a postseason run.

Where will they finish in the division and the playoff picture when all is set and done? That is to be determined. But, if this team can take the next step from last season, I can see this prediction being pretty accurate.

I’m not sure how confident I am that they will finish with a similar record but it will come down to the goaltending. If Craig Anderson can stay healthy and Eric Comrie pans out to be the guy Kevyn Adams envisions him to be, then the Sabres have a good chance of breaking this lengthy playoff drought.
