The Buffalo Sabres are not hot in the fantasy hockey department for 2022. But there are a few players to consider drafting this season.

Despite few Buffalo Sabres sneaking their way into the top part of the fantasy hockey rankings for 2022, there are still a few players to consider, and one player to keep away from for this year. Under most circumstances, anyway.

This article will discuss three players, one you will most likely consider drafting in at least the middle rounds, depending on the size of your league. Another player is one to consider toward the latter portion of the draft who you may not otherwise take a chance on. And the final player is one that will come with a buyer beware tag.

Who are these players? Let’s meet them.

Two Buffalo Sabres to consider in your fantasy hockey draft and one to steer clear of

Rasmus Dahlin is one player you need to consider in the middle rounds at the latest. If you play in a larger league of 12-plus teams, he is more than worth considering in the earlier rounds. With 53 points and 13 goals, Dahlin is one of a few young defensemen trending up in the league and you can expect a greater scoring output in 2022-23.  He can also snag a few defensive stats.

Goaltender Eric Comrie is one of the deepest sleepers. And while he will likely go undrafted in most leagues, he is more than worth snagging as an extra goaltender in 2022. Yes, he has little experience on NHL ice and he is looking to prove he can see extended ice time this year. But what makes Comrie attractive is how he fared in Winnipeg last season with a 2.58 GAA and 0.920 save percentage.

If there is one player to take a chance on, Comrie is it. And best yet, few owners will even consider him. That said, you can most likely take Comrie in the final round of your draft.

Owen Power is going to have a great season and he could contend for the Calder. But I am not as high on him this season for fantasy hockey because I feel too many owners will reach for him. Not that Power is a bad choice; just don’t be the one who overdrafts him.

In standard leagues, save the Owen Power selection for the latter half of your draft. Now, if you play in a keeper or dynasty league, he is a much safer selection. Overall, there are players more proven from a fantasy standpoint than Power. Consider them first.
