Just like that, we are approaching the 10% mark in what has so far been an exciting season for the Buffalo Sabres. Here are the odds for tonight’s contest.

The Buffalo Sabres will square off with the Chicago Blackhawks in what just might be another memorable outing. Last season, an outsider would have thought this was a major rivalry, given the way the two teams played each other in their respective meetings: Two games that literally went down to the wire.

I initially thought Tage Thompson breaking his stick in his somehow successful effort to score the game-winning goal could not be topped. Then Casey Mittelstadt snagged a game-winner in overtime during the season finale, which also happened to be Rick Jeanneret’s final broadcast with the team. So what can we expect next? Let’s take a dive.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Blackhawks Odds – Game 8

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are currently 1.5 point favorites at home against the Blackhawks. The Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the moneyline for the Sabres is -182. The moneyline for the Blackhawks is +150.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Blackhawks Prediction – Game 8

The Sabres are coming off two losses, one of which they literally sleepwalked their way through while the second loss was a product of sensational goaltending from their opponent, the Montreal Canadiens. Sure, the Sabres passed on a few golden opportunities, but at least they were shooting the puck, ultimately logging 45 SOG.

Tonight, you won’t see the Sabres hit that number, but you will also see them take advantage of those opportunities they passed up. Look for them to “just play hockey” tonight and not to fear mistakes, something head coach Don Granato preaches regularly.

Hot. Major network again gets it wrong about the Sabres. light

Therefore, I’m projecting the Sabres to take this one 4-2, in what will be another thriller of a game. Look for a hard-fought matchup that would appear to be heading into overtime, before a late Sabres goal and subsequent empty-netter negates it.
