Buffalo Sabres vs. Red Wings: Why tonight’s game will be overly crucial
The Buffalo Sabres will be seeing the Detroit Red Wings for the first time this season, and although it is early, expect a crucial contest.
After rebounding in a comeback win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night, the Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the Detroit Red Wings for a Halloween night showdown. The Sabres are 5-3-0 while Detroit is 4-2-2, so this game will be a fun one to watch.
I know it’s only October, but this game could be a big one, for both teams. However, with this being a Sabres site, I’m going to talk about why this game could be an important one for Buffalo. First and foremost, it’s a divisional game. Divisional games are always tough, no matter the opponent or how they are doing.
These two teams saw each other four times last year and Detroit won all four games. I’m sure Buffalo hasn’t forgotten and even though it’s a brand new season, the Sabres are a better team than they were last year, so it will be interesting to see what transpires tonight.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Red Wings is one important matchup
The other and main reason why this game could be a big one for the Sabres, it could determine where Buffalo will finish not only in the division, but in the wild card race as well. Before you call me crazy, yes I know it’s only October.
Hear me out though. the Sabres and Red Wings are on the rise and they could be battling it out for a wild card spot later on in the season. A couple of months ago, I wrote an article about the Sabres possibly competing for a wild card spot with divisional opponents like Detroit and Ottawa.
In a way, it’s also a measuring stick game because as I stated earlier, both of these two teams are on the rise and it will be interesting to see where they are as an organization. I know it’s still very early into the season and playoffs are a long ways away, but this game will be important for Buffalo going forward.
