The Buffalo Sabres are not alone in suffering through November 2022

The Buffalo Sabres are in the middle of a five-game losing streak, having played four formidable opponents in that five-game span.

It’s no secret that the Buffalo Sabres are struggling. Over their past five games, the Blue and Gold have been outscored 24-12. Injuries have ravaged the roster, and shifting lineups have all but negated their hot start in October. What else is new? These are the Sabres, after all. A team that in four of the last five seasons found early season success, yet decided to drop off a cliff.

The Sabres are not alone in their suffering, however, as the two most recent games featuring their friends over in Orchard Park, the Buffalo Bills, are seeing struggles of their own. Last week, the New York Jets came into town and pulled off a stunning 20-17 win.

This week, the unthinkable happened as the Bills blew a 27-10 lead to the Minnesota Vikings in a game I was labeling as a Super Bowl preview. I’m not going to rehash the hash, since everyone in Buffalo and in most of the United States saw what went down, but it was one of the biggest heartbreakers in recent memory, to say the least.

Buffalo Sabres, Bills both struggling in November 2022

It’s not a happy month to be a Buffalo sports fan. But if there is any good news, it’s still early for the Sabres, so they can turn things around. Meanwhile, the Bills are still very much alive in the AFC Playoff Race and could easily get hot at the right time late in the season.

Sure, things are looking bleak, even as Holiday Heartbreak Season arrives. Or at least that’s what I’ve called it for over the past decade. As Buffalo sports fans, however, we can at least find solace in the fact that, for the Sabres, Henri Jokiharju is close to returning to the lineup, which will be a big boost for the Sabres.

Over in Orchard Park meanwhile, the Bills get to play the lowly Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions, two franchise who have seen decades of hard luck themselves. The games will serve as tremendous opportunities for the team to return to their winning ways.
