The Buffalo Sabres can shock the NHL tonight with an upset win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. A win that will snap a seven-game losing streak.

This seven-game losing streak has been painful to watch. For over two weeks, the Buffalo Sabres faithful has, once again, has seen the injury bug decimate this team, and for their next man up mentality to crash and burn.

The result? The Sabres have allowed 96 breakaways and odd-man rushes, plus a whopping 4.71 goals per game during the streak. And while they have seen worse, this kind of stuff wasn’t supposed to happen this year with the Sabres turning the page to a new chapter.

Well, guess what? They’re in this situation, but they have a massive opportunity to turn it around tonight against their biggest rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs. What are the odds? Let’s go exploring.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Maple Leafs Odds – Game 18

Per Fan Duel, the Sabres are currently +1.5 point underdogs on the road against the Maple Leafs. The current Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +205. The moneyline for the Maple Leafs is -260.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Maple Leafs Prediction – Game 18

As bad as things look for the Sabres, they tend to beat the Maple Leafs regardless. And it’s not like Toronto is exactly a high-scoring team, averaging under three goals per game in 5 on 5 situations. That said, if the Sabres can stay out of the penalty box, then they can topple their biggest rival once more.

But if the Sabres plan on winning this game, they also need to limit breakaways and odd-man rushes. Yet given their recent history against Toronto, if there is any struggling hockey team that can trap the Leafs, it’s the Sabres.

And I’m going to expect it to happen until the Leafs prove they can beat the Blue and Gold. The Sabres take this one 5-3 in what will be a hardfought game throughout.
