The St. Louis Blues may have taken the Buffalo Sabres too lightly. If that’s the case, it was a big mistake on their part.

You know the phase don’t judge a book by it’s cover? The St. Louis Blues didn’t get the memo as the Buffalo Sabres ended their seven game winning streak by a final score of 6-2. Even though I want to talk about the Sabres bringing back their black goathead jerseys, this topic was too good for me to pass up.

During the postgame interview, Brayden Schenn pretty much said that St. Louis decided to take the Sabres lightly. Now I can say this for any team in any league but here’s a reminder for opposing teams to not take the Buffalo Sabres lightly. For starters, Buffalo is second in the NHL when it comes to scoring.

Second, these are not the same old Sabres. Sure, they might have just gotten over an eight-game losing streak, but they are not going to go down without a fight. Also, you’re on a seven-game winning streak. Why would you look past a team if you’re trying to keep the good times rolling?

Blues made a mistake of taking the Buffalo Sabres lightly

I’m not sure if it’s some sorry excuse but regardless, the Sabres showed up in front of a packed house in KeyBank Center and matched the energy inside the building because of the jerseys. Especially for a veteran like Schenn, it just seems odd they thought Buffalo would be an easy win.

Regardless of what they thought, Buffalo was the better team and won their second game in a row a day after wreaking havoc on the Canadiens. The Sabres will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving but then it’s back to work on Black Friday as they will host the New Jersey Devils who saw their remarkable 13 game winning streak come to an end thanks to the Toronto Maple Leafs,

Even though their winning streak is over, you know the Sabres will love to upset another team. New Jersey is 16-4-0 and even though we don’t know what the future holds, we do know New Jersey is the hottest team in the league.

Buffalo defeated the second hottest team in St. Louis and I’m sure they would love to do the same thing to the Devils. Maybe New Jersey won’t think it will be an easy game but we will see what happens.
