The Buffalo Sabres square off against the Detroit Red Wings for their second meeting of the year. And this one could get outta hand.
The Buffalo Sabres have a golden opportunity to evoke some damage on the Detroit Red Wings tonight. With Alex Nedeljkovic starting tonight, the Blue and Gold have a chance to pile on some goals and make quick work out of the Yzerman-built Wings. So what are the odds that this happens? Let’s find out.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Red Wings – Odds
Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs on the road against the Red Wings. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres hold a +114 moneyline. The moneyline for the Red Wings is -137.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Red Wings – Prediction
The only thing I have running through my head is Halloween Night and Alex Nedeljkovic‘s performance during that contest. Tonight’s difference? The Sabres are playing the Wings on the road, but you can expect high scoring output from the Blue and Gold.
This is a team that has found twine 19 times over the last four contest, and 81 times overall this season. So with a lower-level goaltender starting for Detroit tonight, the Sabres should be able to wreak more havoc, especially with their best lines lining up first, second, and third.
Overall, look for a big game, and don’t be surprised if the Sabres put up at least five goals to a goaltender with a GAA of 4.01 this season. Craig Anderson should be in the net tonight, so expect him to hold the fort down a little better than Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen did a couple of nights back.
If the Sabres pull off the win tonight, they will have won three of their last five, for a total of seven much-needed points. And that will inch them closer to the early-season wild card conversation. A place they need to stick around for as long as they can.
