The Buffalo Sabres can make quick work of the San Jose Sharks tonight, so how great are the odds they come away with the W?

The Buffalo Sabres need to get back on track with a win tonight to close out their homestand against the San Jose Sharks. And they have a great chance to overwhelm a team that has just 2.92 goals per game in 27 contests compared to Buffalo’s 3.75.

Of course, the Sabres must step up defensively if they plan on warding off yet another comeback. Against Tampa Bay and Detroit last week, the Blue and Gold blew two leads, but miraculously came away with three out of four possible points. On Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche, they had a bad second period, which all but sealed the deal.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Sharks – Odds

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are -1.5 favorites at home against the San Jose Sharks. The current Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is -150. The Sharks moneyline is +122.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Sharks – Prediction

The Sabres, if their defense can hold, should make quick work here of San Jose. Their high-octane, high-scoring ways are slowly becoming this team’s identity, and it’s yet another step toward becoming a relevant team in the NHL for the first time in a while.

Look for the Tage Thompson Line and the Kid Line to come out hot in this one, racking up at least four goals over the first two periods, which should give Buffalo a two-goal lead heading into the third. This time, they won’t collapse, and it will give the Blue and Gold plenty of momentum as they head into their next set of games that features two on the road, and one at home.

Given Ottawa’s two-game winning streak, a Sabres win will also get them back out of the Atlantic Division’s basement, where they currently reside via tiebreaker. That said, Buffalo has a lot on the line tonight.
