The Buffalo Sabres lost a heartbreaker to the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime last night, but they still did enough to pick up a point.

The Buffalo Sabres, Jeff Skinner more than anyone else, need to find redemption in tonight’s rematch against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Skinner’s unnecessary cross check to Jake Guentzel’s face put the Blue and Gold behind the eight ball and in a position they could not climb out of.

But there is always tomorrow, and now that it is tomorrow, the Sabres need to find a way to even the score….literally. So will they redeem themselves tonight and cruise out of the Steel City with a W? Let’s discuss.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Penguins Odds – Game 28

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +172. The Penguins moneyline is -210.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Penguins Prediction – Game 28

The Sabres are the NHL’s youngest team, and that can pay dividends against the league’s oldest team on a back to back. This could sway things in the Blue and Gold’s favor as the game wears on, even if the Penguins were to slightly outplay them.

Odds are, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen starts tonight, as Craig Anderson found himself between the pipes yesterday. But if Luukkonen can keep this game close, the Sabres have a chance.

And Luukkonen has enjoyed successful periods where he made highlight-reel saves. So if he can hold the Penguins to two goals or fewer by the time the third period rolls around, I’m giving this game to the Sabres in a 4-2 win.

More. Sabres: The Jost line delivered an encouraging performance. light

However, if Luukkonen is unable to stop the Penguins onslaught, then this game will go to the Black and Gold, as opposed to the Blue and Gold. Overall, the younger Sabres will outlast the Penguins in the third period, but they must keep the game manageable in the first two periods if they plan on winning.
