How will the Buffalo Sabres fare in Week 9 – 2022? (Revenge Trip?)
By Zach Jezioro
The banged up, beaten, and battered Buffalo Sabres are in search for a win, but things don’t get any easier as the Blue and Gold enter Week 9.
After two tough losses at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Buffalo Sabres will look to turn the page to this upcoming week. As of right now, Buffalo is 12-14-2 and are currently seven points out of a playoff spot. After going 2-1-1 last week, this week will be a challenge for the team.
The Sabres will have three games this week. They will face the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Arizona Coyotes. Despite having a record under .500, the Sabres are in a good spot. If they can string some wins together and go on a little point streak, then they will be in the thick of things when it comes to making the postseason.
Buffalo Sabres face three Western Conference opponents in Week 9
Up first, a meeting with the Kings at home on Tuesday night. The Kings are currently sitting in a playoff spot and will be a good test for the Sabres. Unfortunately for Buffalo, they will be without Henri Jokiharju and Vinnie Hinostroza, as both players were placed on injured reserve but it seems like Jokiharju will be out longer.
After the LA game, the Sabres will head out West for a three game road trip. Buffalo will be seeing the defending Stanley Cup champions to start the trip on Thursday night. Just like the Kings, the Avalanche are also sitting in a playoff spot which shouldn’t be a surprise.
Even though Colorado is not the dominant team we know them to be, they are still a very good team and it will once again be a good test for this young Buffalo team. In a tough environment with the altitude, it will be a challenge but I am excited to see what the Sabres can do against the Avs.
To wrap up the week, Buffalo will take on the Coyotes in Arizona on Saturday night. Unlike the Kings and Avalanche, it’s a different story for the Coyotes who are going through a rebuild. However, they did come into Buffalo and defeated the Sabres earlier. You cannot afford to get swept by Arizona, so hopefully the Sabres will be ready to go.
Then to kick off Week 10, it will be Game #2 of the year against Jack Eichel and his Vegas Golden Knights. And that’s a game the Sabres have got to be ready for.
