Buffalo Sabres vs. Avalanche Prediction and Odds – Game 30
The Buffalo Sabres are coming off of a 6-0 smackdown against the Los Angeles Kings in a game where they scored all six goals in one period.
The Buffalo Sabres continue to pace the league in goals scored with 115. And while their scoring stagnates at times, as can be the case with even the best NHL teams, when they find twine, they can hang with anyone. And it’s one reason a road game against the defending Stanley Cup Champions isn’t exactly a wash.
Sure, the Blue and Gold must start faster than they did against Los Angeles if they plan on winning this one, especially if Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is starting at goaltender. So how will this one fare out? Here are the game odds and a prediction.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Avalanche Odds – Game 30
Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs on the road against the Colorado Avalanche. The Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the Sabres have a +150 moneyline. The Avalanche’s moneyline is -182.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Avalanche Prediction – Game 30
The Buffalo Sabres have proven they can pull off a few upsets. But the Avalanche have the defensive capabilities and goaltending to circumvent the Sabres high-octane scoring. While the Sabres lead the NHL with 115 goals scored, the Avalanche are sixth in the league with 76 goals allowed.
For me, this one comes down to experience and the Sabres just don’t have it. Look for the Avalanche to keep the score manageable and to eek out a one-goal lead heading into the third period. That one goal lead will turn into two, especially if Luukkonen is in the net tonight, before they finally win this one by three goals in a 6-3 outing.
The Buffalo Sabres have proven they are a better team recently, but good enough to beat an experienced group like the Avalanche on the road? They aren’t quite there yet.
