Prediction! Will the Buffalo Sabres win out in December 2022?
The Buffalo Sabres are 6-2-1 in December, and they are currently on a four-game winning streak with three games to go in the month.
While December got off to a rocky start following a 6-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, they have since enjoyed a remarkable month with four games where they have scored five goals or more. The Blue and Gold have also outscored opponents 42 to 26, solidifying themselves as one of the NHL’s top scoring teams.
With three games to go in the month, is it possible for Buffalo to end December at 9-2-1? Let’s checkout how they have fared this season against each opponent and give a prediction.
Buffalo Sabres facing familiar foes in December’s final three games
First on the agenda are the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team the Sabres dominated 9-4 on December 7th. Once again, the Blue and Gold will be on the road here, and given their blowout win, you can expect another high-octane game from Buffalo this time around.
Prediction: Sabres win, 6-2
Next up are the Detroit Red Wings, who the Sabres outscored 13-7 so far in 2022, including a thrilling 5-4 shootout win to end November on a high note. So far, the Wings have also been struggling as of late, dropping seven of their last ten games – five in regulation, and two in overtime. With the Sabres being red hot at the moment, this is their game to lose.
Prediction: Sabres win, 5-3
And finally, the Sabres have the Boston Bruins on New Year’s Eve. As you know, the Bruins remain one of the NHL’s most dangerous teams, and they got the best of the Sabres the first time around in a 3-1 win. However, the Blue and Gold held their own and even a lead for a portion of the game. The Sabres are capable of beating the Bruins, so I’m going to have some fun here and say yes, they will get the best of Boston in Round 2.
Prediction: Sabres win, 4-3 (OT)
Overall, the Sabres should take care of Columbus and Detroit. Boston will be the toughest matchup on the schedule, but it given the way Buffalo played them in the recent past, it is still a winnable game.
