The Buffalo Sabres have an opportunity to extend their winning streak to six games in a stretch where they have been absolutely dominant, outscoring opponents 24-9 during that span. But the Boston Bruins have yet to lose a home game in regulation this season, where they are currently 18-0-2.
The Sabres have also not fared well against Boston, as they are 1-14-3 vs. their Atlantic Division rival over the past five seasons. But with so many demons facing them, it also grants the Blue and Gold plenty of opportunities. So will they take advantage of them? Let’s check out the odds.

The Sabres just don’t fare well against the Bruins. But as a young team, they always have a good chance on remaining hot all game long, even if they have a tendency to put things into cruise control in the third period.
That won’t happen tonight, because Boston won’t give them that opportunity. Look for a high-scoring game here, with Buffalo and Boston trading blows literally from the first period. It’s one of those games where you will see both the Thompson Line and the Kid Line step up, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this game was deadlocked in a 4-4 tie heading into the third period.
I will also go out on a limb and say the Sabres take this one by a score of 6-5 in regulation. We’re looking at an upset here to ring in the New Year, and could it really happen against a better team?
