The Buffalo Sabres start off 2023 with a road game against their division rival, the Ottawa Senators. Can they ring in the New Year with a W?

The Buffalo Sabres are on a roll, and they could continue it in tonight’s game against their division rival, the Ottawa Senators. Just yesterday, the Blue and Gold’s winning streak was in peril against the Boston Bruins, a team who had yet to lose in regulation at home.

And while Boston’s regulation home winning streak continued, the Sabres were the first team to knock them off before resorting to a shootout at the TD Garden. And they did it in dramatic fashion, surviving a five-on-three and scoring the game-tying goal after emptying the net.

So will they win another thriller tonight? Let’s predict.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Odds – Game 35

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs on the road against the Senators. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +110. The Bruins moneyline is -132.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Prediction – Game 35

This game is a road back-to-back, meaning it will be tough for the Blue and Gold to come in and play at their highest level. The good news, however, is that they will be entering the game full of momentum after pulling off the upset yesterday.

The Sabres are also riding a six-game winning streak and are still full of offense, so until someone figures out how to slow them down, there is no way I can pick this team to lose. Buffalo takes this one in yet another thriller, 4-3, and they ring in the New Year with a big win.

The W would put the Sabres at 40 points on the season, which is beyond remarkable, considering the fact they sat at just 25 points this time last year. Even if they lost, they are still at 38 points, a +13 point differential when you compare them to 2021-22. Quite an improvement to say the least.
