The Buffalo Sabres are looking to redeem themselves following a streak-snapping loss to the Ottawa Senators. Can they get it done tonight?

The Buffalo Sabres fell to the Ottawa Senators 3-1 on Sunday night despite electrifying goaltending from Craig Anderson. Against the Washington Capitals, they have a chance to turn over a new page and get back on track.

This matchup will feature two of the game’s best forwards in Alexander Ovechkin and Tage Thompson, both of whom took home a star award in December. So what are the odds the Blue and Gold pull this one off? Keep reading for the odds and a prediction.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Capitals Prediction – Game 36

The Sabres are going to have a tough time tonight. They are going up against a perennial playoff contender in the Capitals, who are one of the better scoring teams in the league.

The Blue and Gold are also coming off of a game where their scorers struggled to get anything into twine. And while we can credit Anton Forsberg’s stellar outing, you have to wonder whether their subpar outing will play with their minds heading into tonight’s contest.

But the Sabres have overcome a lot this season, and no one expected them to be in the position they are in right now. That said, I am expecting this team to rebound from their loss to Ottawa, and look more like the team that played and upset the Boston Bruins.

Buffalo steals this one with an upset victory in the third period, 4-3, and they will return to the Queen City with momentum and a few days off before they face the Minnesota Wild. And yes, a win over Washington will once more keep the NHL on notice that this is a different Sabres team than in years’ past.
