The Buffalo Sabres are coming off of a big win over the Washington Capitals. Can they make it two in a row against the Minnesota Wild?

The Buffalo Sabres find themselves in the wild card hunt in January for the first time in a while. Or at least in the wild card hunt as a team on the ascent.

Even against some of the league’s better teams, they proved to more than hold their own. We saw this occur on Tuesday night in Washington, and on New Year’s Eve a few days before against the Boston Bruins.

So forgive me if I’m going to be a little optimistic for tonight’s prediction. But before we talk about it, let’s check out the odds for this one.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Wild Odds – Game 37

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs at home against the Wild. The Over/Under is 6.5 and the Sabres moneyline is -110. The Wild’s moneyline is also -110.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Wild Prediction – Game 37

The Sabres have more than a few reasons to play their best hockey against the league’s best these days, as they sit six points behind the New York Islanders for that second wild card spot. Therefore, expect the Sabres to play with a sense of urgency, yet with the type of patience they have also learned over the first three months of the season.

That patience will pay off tonight, and the Sabres will keep this one close before they score late in the third period to tie the game at two. While things look like they will be heading into overtime, a goal in the final minute seals the deal in what will be a defensive effort between the two teams. The Sabres take this one by a score of 3-2 as they look ahead to the Philadelphia Flyers.

A win tonight will make their 20th of the season. And just for the record, it took until March 13th, 2022 for the Sabres to snag 20 wins last season.
