The Buffalo Sabres host the Philadelphia Flyers in a pivotal matchup that could bring them even closer to landing in one of the two wild card spots.

The Buffalo Sabres won a few thrillers over the past week and a half, but they fell to an opponent with a worse record in that same span. That can’t happen against the lowly Philadelphia Flyers, a team currently in rebuilding mode.

This is a game the Blue and Gold cannot afford to lose. So what are oddsmakers saying? Keep reading to find out.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Flyers Odds – Game 38

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are -1.5 favorites at home against the Flyers. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is -235. The Flyers moneyline is +190.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Flyers Prediction – Game 38

The Sabres can’t afford to lose this one, but they also need to play with patience as opposed to a sense of urgency. When they play a patient game, they almost always log smarter shots on goal, and it’s not uncommon to see them convert roughly 13% to 15% (or more) of those shots.

In my bold predictions for the week piece, I had the Flyers taking this one. But as it stands, I’m taking the Sabres here, as I can’t see this high-octane team falling to such a weak opponent.

Sure, strange things have happened to the Blue and Gold all season, but tonight’s contest should be a lock. It should also serve as a momentum builder, as the Seattle Kraken skate into town tomorrow night.

And the Sabres could use every last bit of momentum against the pesky Kraken. That said, a tune up affair against Philadelphia is in order. The Sabres take this one by a score of 6-3, sinking an empty-netter to seal the deal.

More. Should the Buffalo Sabres trade for Ryan O’Reilly?. light

If they can take tonight’s contest, it will put them at 44 points on the year. Something they didn’t snag last season until March. Talk about an improved group.
