The Buffalo Sabres may have lost to kick off Week 13, but Rasmus Dahlin took yet another honor this season with a Third Star Award.

Despite the Buffalo Sabres rough start to the week in Monday night’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin secured yet another star honor. This honor came earlier in the day on Monday, following his epic performance against the Minnesota Wild.

Dahlin’s late goal kept the Sabres in the game, which they ultimately won in overtime. He also had a goal earlier in the contest, and five points overall. Earlier last week, Dahlin added a point in the Sabres overtime win over the Washington Capitals.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman has been collecting honors all season

Star awards are nothing new to Dahlin, as he took home the First Star after Week 1 of the regular season. He scored a goal in five straight contests, and it was an epic display of scoring ability from the two-way defenseman.

Last season, Dahlin made his first appearance in the NHL All-Star Game, and he is a favorite in 2023 to get voted into the event after center Tage Thompson got the initial nod for the Buffalo Sabres.

Before the season began, Dahlin also became one of two alternate captains, with Zemgus Girgensons snagging the other A. Given his performance and leadership qualities shown this season, don’t be surprised if Dahlin ends up wearing the C in 2023-24, but he will, at the absolute least, snag the A once more.

Given his prowess and overall development on the ice over the past two years, look for more awards to come Dahlin’s way. If the Sabres can rediscover their winning ways tonight and for the long haul, nothing is out of the question for Dahlin, as he could finish the season as a strong candidate to win the Norris Trophy.
