How dominant are the Buffalo Sabres on Western Conference road trips?

The Buffalo Sabres have been arguably the NHL’s most dominant team on Western Conference road trips and it’s absolutely astounding.

We know the Buffalo Sabres are road warriors this season, but when they take trips out west, the Blue and Gold have been nothing short of dominant. Just check out this tweet from Mike Harrington of Buffalo News:

That’s 21 points, and truth be told, the Sabres were dominating the Blackhawks until they fell apart in the final period. Their road odysseys into the west have also seen them upend some of the NHL’s best teams in the Dallas Stars and last night, the mighty Winnipeg Jets.

Can the Buffalo Sabres keep winning out west?

Fans won’t need to wait long before the Sabres make another road trip. They have one game remaining this time around against the Minnesota Wild before they return home to face the Carolina Hurricanes with the All-Star break to follow.

After the break, they return to action at home against the Calgary Flames on February 11th before heading back out west between February 13th and February 18th, where they will face the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks.

Want more fun? The Sabres won three of their 11 home games against the aforementioned teams by a combined score of 18-6. So if you have any concerns that their success out west won’t continue, the odds are ever in their favor.

It will, however, mark their final trip out west. And since they also beat the Minnesota Wild at home earlier this season 6-5 in overtime, it is more than realistic to believe they can wind up 14-1-1 on the road against the Western Conference.

For the league’s youngest team, such a record would just be unheard of. And as it stands, the absolute worst that can happen this season is that they’ll finish 10-5-1 out west, but it’s hard to envision that happening.
