The Buffalo Sabres may be young, but they are a talented bunch considering their youth. And they could just break a few records.

The Buffalo Sabres are a good road team, standing at 15-7-2 (32 points) when playing in an opponent’s arena. Since this team snapped its eight-game losing streak in November, the Blue and Gold have been 12-2-2 (24 points) in road affairs. But you might not know that they will set a franchise record in road points if they keep up this pace.

With 24 road games down and 17 to go, the Sabres are on pace to finish 26-12-3 in opposing arenas this season, giving them 55 road points, one ahead of the 54 they earned during their unforgettable 2006-07 outing. So will they keep this pace up and break a record that has stood for nearly two decades? Lets talk about it.

Buffalo Sabres can set a new record for road points in 2022-23

The Sabres return for their final Western Conference road trip of the season in mid-February when they go out to California to face the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks. In foresight, those are three wins, but every team has its slip ups, so I’ll say they finish 2-1-0 here, putting them at 17-8-2 on the road for the season.

Their next two road games come against Tampa Bay and Florida. I hate to say it, but those will be two losses, so let’s give them a 17-10-2 record following the Florida game. They will, however, visit and once again upset Boston, before falling to the New York Islanders in overtime. So we’re at 18-10-3 right now.

I see them beating Toronto on the road before they split against Washington and Philadelphia. They will, however, return to beat the Islanders on the road, putting them at 21-11-3. In early April, I got them once again downing the Flyers before they lose again to the Panthers. They will, however, manhandle the Red Wings once more, placing them at 23-12-3.

The Sabres will fall to the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers, but they will snag an overtime point, so they’ll stand at 23-13-4, before they once again down the Columbus Blue Jackets, giving them a final record of 24-13-4 on the road for 52 road points.

While they are on pace to break their road record set in 2006-07, I don’t see them breaking it. But they will come very, very close. And it’s also a sign that this is still a good road team who can beat anyone when they aren’t at the KeyBank Center.
