The Buffalo Sabres may have earned just one point in their last three contests, but they can righten the ship in this week’s road trip.
The Buffalo Sabres returned from the All-Star break and floored the throttle to a dominant, 2-0 start against the Calgary Flames. It went downhill from there, as the Blue and Gold ended up dropping seven unanswered goals.
Overall, it was an abysmal performance, but with the Flames on their third game back from the break, they had more time to get back into a rhythm, so that may have accounted for the lopsided affair. Whatever the case, the Sabres can erase this three-game deficit as they embark on their final trip out west.
This week, they travel to California play the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks. The Sabres have enjoyed a 10-1-2 record on the road against Western Conference teams this season, and they haven’t lost on the road in regulation since they played the Seattle Kraken on October 25th.
Buffalo Sabres can straighten things out on the upcoming road trip
The Sabres haven’t played well at home, holding just an 11-14-2 record at the KeyBank Center. Three of those wins, however, came against the Kings, Ducks, and Sharks. And if you want more fun, all three wins came by three goals or more, so the cards are in the Sabres favor as they head out to California.
Buffalo would do well to take advantage of what’s been an obvious strength all season, as when they return home, the schedule does not get friendly. They’ll face the Toronto Maple Leafs at the KCB before heading down to Florida to spar with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers – two teams the Blue and Gold never seem to be able to beat.
They’ll return home once more to play the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets to end the month. Two more winnable games. If the Sabres take advantage of this last road trip out west, it will be a major boost for them heading into a tough slate of games against the Atlantic Division before they finish up with two contests against the Metropolitan.
