The Buffalo Sabres beat the Los Angeles Kings 6-0 when they last met, so will the Blue and Gold enjoy a much-needed similar outcome tonight?

The Buffalo Sabres and Los Angeles Kings were locked in a heated goaltender’s duel back in December. Coming off a two-game losing streak stemming from a back-to-back against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Sabres also had to contend with Jeff Skinner’s suspension.

When the third period rolled around, Buffalo scored not one, not two, not three, but six goals, blowing out the Kings and handing 41-year-old Craig Anderson a shutout win. It didn’t get much better than that, especially since it kicked off a six-game winning streak for the Sabres.

But times are different now. Despite their two-game losing streak, the Sabres aren’t coming off a pair of narrow losses, but two blowouts. So can they turn things around tonight? Let’s talk about it.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Kings Odds – Game 52

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are currently +1.5 underdogs on the road against the Kings. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +134. The Kings moneyline is -162.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Kings Prediction – Game 52

As much as I’d like to say the Sabres will enjoy a repeat of their previous outing against Los Angeles, this team currently looks like an ECHL squad. Maybe the changes head coach Don Granato made in practice will help, but until that translates to the ice, it’s not feasible to sit here and say the Sabres are winning this one.

They play well out west, with a record of 10-1-2 against the conference on the road prior to this final trip, so there’s always that to consider. But as it stands, the Sabres are currently in too much of a slump to predict a win tonight. So at best, they take this thing into overtime and snag a point.

Worst-case scenario? They suffer yet another blowout defeat and start this final Western Conference road trip of the season off in demoralizing fashion.
