The Buffalo Sabres are coming off of a big win against the Tampa Bay Lightning – can they make it two in a row tonight and inch closer to the wild card?

The Buffalo Sabres won a thriller in Tampa last night, giving them momentum as they head into the second half of this back-to-back against the Florida Panthers. Recently Buffalo has struggled against Florida, but they also struggled against Tampa before yesterday’s win, so anything is possible tonight.

And if the Sabres pull this one off, they will be closer to one of those two wild card slots at this stage in the season than they’ve been in a long time. So what are the odds they snag two more points tonight? Let’s check them out and make a prediction.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Panthers Odds – Game 57

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 point underdogs on the road against the Panthers. The Over/Under is 7, and the Sabres moneyline is +150. The Panthers moneyline is -182.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Panthers Prediction – Game 57

Can lightning (no pun intended) strike twice? While the Sabres have momentum going into this one, they have yet to show consistency in these situations. Buffalo hung with Tampa last night in physicality, special teams, and in capitalizing on the Bolts mistakes, but that’s asking a lot in a back-to-back against a team that’s given them nothing but problems.

At best, Buffalo gives Florida a game and they earn a point in this one. A sense of urgency is at an all time high for both teams, but the more experienced Panthers have the edge in this one. If there’s any ray of hope resting with the Sabres, however, it’s the fact that they’re 18-8-2 on the road this season, coming off of a win against a team that was 22-3-3 at home going into last night.

So yeah, it’s possible the Sabres pull off the improbable twice. But it would be reckless to predict it will happen. Florida wins this one and if the Blue and Gold are lucky, they head back home with a point.
