Jeff Skinner scored two points in the Buffalo Sabres embarrassing loss to the Dallas Stars, giving him a new career-high in points.
Buffalo Sabres winger Jeff Skinner would have loved to seen his team accumulate two more points in last night’s ill-fated contest vs. the Dallas Stars. Unfortunately, Buffalo played its worst game of the season and allowed 10 goals in a contest where ironically enough, Skinner scored a career-high 64th point on an assist that led to Jordan Greenway’s first goal with the Blue and Gold.
Later in the game, he came up with his own goal to score his 65th point of the season on a helper from none other than Tage Thompson. Overall, it was a defining moment for Skinner, who took heat over the past few seasons thanks to the contract he signed back in 2019.
Buffalo Sabres have got to be ecstatic over Jeff Skinner’s career-high
While last night’s loss was tough to stomach for all of us, Skinner gave us a bright spot. And yes, you can find light in those dark situations if you know where to look. Skinner gave us that light, and at least a tiny ray of hope, that he is and will continue to be an integral part of an otherwise young Buffalo Sabres team.
Now, we need to ask ourselves: How many points will Skinner score? And will he shatter his former career-high of 63 points. At 65 points in 61 contests this season, he’s on pace to put up 84, and if the Sabres can rediscover their high-octane ways that made them so dangerous earlier in the year, I have no doubt he will supersede that mark.
So in lieu of some poor performances over the past week, two weeks really, if you’re looking for a reason to tune into the Sabres, why not see how far Skinner can take his points total? There are other reasons to watch as well, and players like Skinner will at least make things interesting.
