The Buffalo Sabres will try to erase their three-game losing streak against one of the NHL’s best teams, the playoff-bound New York Rangers.
The Buffalo Sabres need to move past their embarrassing loss to the Dallas Stars. And they will try again vs. the New York Rangers, so it’s safe to say that this will be no easy task, New York, with 81 points, are third in the Metropolitan Division, and they’ll be looking to hold off their crosstown rival, the red-hot Islanders, so they will be playing with a heightened sense of urgency.
This is one of those games that, in lieu of recent outings from Buffalo, is going to go either really good or really bad. On one hand, you’d like to think the Sabres will pull out all the stops to win this one just to prove they’re better than how they’ve played so far in March.
On the other, you got a young team whose inexperience reared its head recently. So will we see more of what we’ve seen in the recent past? Let’s check out the odds and make a prediction.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Rangers Odds – Game 65
Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are +1.5 underdogs at home against the Rangers. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +122. The Rangers moneyline is -146.
Buffalo Sabres vs. Rangers Prediction – Game 66
Until the Sabres give us a reason, there is no way anyone could predict a win here. Sure, they suffered narrow losses earlier in the week, but even then, it would have been tough to predict the upset win over the Stars after the team fell to Edmonton and the Isles.
As mentioned earlier, they could be playing with heightened urgency today, looking to show their fans that Thursday’s loss to Dallas was nothing more than a major outlier. But then again, they were forcing things in that game, so what’s not to say that doesn’t happen on a greater basis today?
There is no way I can rationally predict a win here. The Rangers take it, and let’s just hope the score is more respectable than what it was on Thursday night.
