The Buffalo Sabres are struggling as the season reaches its twilight, and now they face the NHL’s best team – the Boston Bruins.

The Buffalo Sabres have dropped their previous two games, including an embarrassing loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night. So can they bounce back against the NHL’s best team? If they want a spot in the NHL playoffs, they don’t have a choice but to pick up two points at home.

If the Sabres want to win this thing, however, it’s going to start with head coach Don Granato. Before Friday’s loss, Granato made the erratic decision to start Victor Olofsson and Vinnie Hinostroza, despite the fact J.J. Peterka and Tyson Jost were enjoying some good outings.

And predictably, things went south quickly. So will the Blue and Gold get it together and pull off the improbable? Keep reading for some odds and a prediction.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Bruins Prediction – Game 69

I honestly don’t know what to make of this one. Earlier this month against the Dallas Stars, Buffalo suffered a debilitating 10-4 loss, only to allow just one goal in regulation two nights later vs. the New York Rangers, before shocking the hockey world with a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

So here we are, coming off yet another embarrassing loss. But if recent history serves as an indicator, this game will be closer than many of us think. I’m not going to get so bold and predict the Sabres take this one. But I will say they will at least have way more fight in them than they had against Philadelphia.

So for a final score, I’m saying something in the realm of 5-3, with the Bruins holding onto a slim lead throughout the contest before an empty-netter seals the deal. Sure, it moves the Sabres one step closer to elimination. But hey, it’s also a step closer to Devon Levi’s debut, right?
