Buffalo Sabres: Bold predictions for Week 22 (Devon Levi Watch)
The Buffalo Sabres have been horrible, there’s no question about it. But with the Devon Levi Watch underway, there is a reason to tune in.
The Buffalo Sabres have been in a slump, and these last four weeks have been debilitating if you’ve been keeping tabs on the group. But, it happens to even the best teams at times, and unfortunately, the Sabres are no exception.
Collapsing in March is no fun, but there are still a little over a dozen games left. And with a certain goaltender on his way to debut, there is still plenty to get excited, and bold, about. So let’s see what Week 22 could have in store for us.
1 – Buffalo Sabres smash the Predators (again)
When you’ve allowed 30-plus goals from March 9th and onward, there’s a problem. And following yesterday’s debacle of a loss, it’s clear there is no end in sight to fixing the problem.
Or is there? The Nashville Predators also lost yesterday by the same score to the New York Rangers, so maybe there’s hope for our Buffalo Sabres after all.
I’m going bold and saying there is. And I’m also going to say the defense and goaltending improves tomorrow night. The Sabres will take it by a score of 5-2. Ultra bold, right?
2 – Tage Thompson’s streak without a goal ends
Perhaps no high scorer on the Sabres has seen a colder streak than Tage Thompson, who has zero goals and five assists over the last eight contests. But Tage will end that streak sometime this week, and since this is a bold prediction article, I’m also going to say he snags a hat trick at some point.
The streak ends tomorrow evening vs. Nashville. But let’s save the hat trick for the 25th when the Blue and Gold return to Long Island.
3 – Sabres announce Levi’s debut, fan interest skyrockets
Whether the debut happens this week or this coming Monday, we don’t know. But this is the week we will hear the exact date that the Sabres plan on playing their newest addition, Devon Levi. And when the team makes that announcement, you can expect some full-house crowds at KeyBank Center when he plays in front of the home crowd.
And since this is the week I believe we will find out when Levi’s playing, this is also the week fan interest skyrockets. Even amidst late-season woes.
Overall, let’s see if the Sabres will play like the team we thought they were turning into tomorrow night, and if Tage will be a major part of that. And finally, keep any news regarding Devon Levi near, because Buffalo will be announcing his debut this week. When it does, expect intense fan interest that we haven’t seen in over a decade.
