The Buffalo Sabres won’t be in the playoffs this season. But that doesn’t mean they can’t have some fun, try to win out, and end the season on a high note.

The Buffalo Sabres have enjoyed their best season in over a decade, and it signals that better days aren’t just on the way, but they have arrived in full force. Our Sabres haven’t seen a winning record in quite some time, but they snagged one this season, and they also haven’t lasted so long in the playoff race, having played in 80 contests before that infamous lower-case ‘e’ appeared.

But when you’re a young hockey team, making the playoffs is nothing short of incredible. I would even argue that staving off elimination for 80 games is also remarkable. But you know what else would be great? How does 90 points sound?

They can still reach that threshold this season, and the Blue and Gold can inch closer to it if they win tonight vs. the Ottawa Senators. Will it happen?

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Odds – Game 81

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are -1.5 favorites for their home finale against the Senators. The Over/Under is 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is -130. The Senators moneyline is +108.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Prediction – Game 81

Even with the playoffs out of the picture, the Sabres still have a reason to play hard tonight, and the same goes for tomorrow night’s outing against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Getting to 90 points would only build momentum and motivation heading into next season, so it’s safe to say this team will be playing their hearts out.

Motivation will also let the Sabres take this one in what could be goaltender Craig Anderson’s final game (he is believed to be the starter tonight) if he does not re-sign with the team. So I am expecting Buffalo to win on Fan Appreciation Night and for the Sabres faithful to go home happy and raring to go when the puck drops again in October.
