Jordan Greenway didn’t do too bad in his first couple of months with the Buffalo Sabres. Check out what he had to offer this season.
The Buffalo Sabres acquired a power forward in Jordan Greenway during the closing minues of the 2023 NHL trade deadline. He was brought in to be physical and provide some depth on the roster.
In 17 games played with Buffalo this season, he only scored four goals. While it’s nothing to write home about, he caught fire toward the end of the season.
Ever since watching him on Team USA in the World Juniors, I’ve always been a fan of his game. He wasn’t brought in to score goals, he was brought in to be a physical presence. As you can see in the video above, he didn’t waste anytime showing why the Sabres acquired him.
When it comes to fighting and throwing his body around, we didn’t see a whole lot of that but as we go into next season, I think we will. Head coach Don Granato was very adamant of getting Greenway on this team and now that he has him, I think we’ll see more physicality out of him next year.
Let’s talk about his offensive game for a second. As the season came to an end, Greenway found his way on a line with Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens.
Jordan Greenway scored a few goals for the Buffalo Sabres this past season
Talking about his scoring, he was able to show off his strength as he would score a pretty neat goal against the New York Rangers one handed, literally.
As for next season, I expect Jordan to be a force. I’m not sure where he will be when it comes to the lines but he will be a very nice depth piece for Buffalo. I can see him finishing with 15-20 goals. As we all know, the Buffalo Sabres lacked physical play.
With the addition of Greenway and maybe some other players in the offseason, Buffalo will have the physicality they need. I am excited to see what he does with the team and I view him as a key depth piece.
