Buffalo Sabres winger Jack Quinn posted solid play as his rookie season dragged on in 2022-23, setting the stage for a breakout season in 2024.

Jack Quinn saw some lean times during his rookie year, which is the case for most players taking part in their first full season. But Quinn, who put up 37 points, 14 goals, and 23 assists in 75 games, started coming on strong during the 2022-23 season’s latter half.

However, Quinn didn’t score most of his points in the second half of the season, as they were more evenly distributed, with 20 coming before the All-Star break (43 games), and 17 following it (32 games). Instead, Quinn grew as a hockey player, learning from mistakes he made earlier in the season, fighting for the puck, creating more scoring chances for himself and others, and even helping improve what was an abysmal penalty kill unit toward the end of the year.

He also grew more acclimated to the speed of the game. As the season progressed, you saw him get more comfortable driving the puck through heavy traffic. All of the above aspects to Quinn’s game will lead to him becoming a more well-rounded player in 2023-24.

Will Buffalo Sabres winger Jack Quinn have a Cozens-like breakout in 2023-24?

In 2021-22, Dylan Cozens had 38 points in his first full season, after playing in 41 contests in 2020-21. Of his 38 points, 13 went in for goals, and he had 25 assists. Cozens also had a similar experience to Quinn, as other aspects of his game improved, even if his number of points impressed no one.

The improvements Cozens made to his game in 2021-22 set the stage for what he accomplished this past season, with 68 points, 31 goals, and 37 assists. Cozens was also one just four Buffalo Sabres put the puck in the back of the net at least 30 times.

If Quinn builds off the game he developed this past season, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that he will score at least 60, if not more, in 2023-24. And look for him to hang around in the 60-plus point range far into the foreseeable future and beyond.
