Buffalo Sabres squaring off against one another at 2023 IIHF Worlds
The 2023 IIHF World Championship is drawing nearer to its conclusion, yet all five Buffalo Sabres representing their respective nations are still in it.
The Buffalo Sabres continue to make their presence felt in the 2023 IIHF World Championship, even as just four teams remain in semi-final play. In fact, Alex Tuch of Team USA will face his Sabres teammate in J.J. Peterka, and while Tuch has had his fair share of impressive outings, few have dominated quite like Peterka.
So far in the tournament, Peterka has 10 points, including five goals and five assists, and he has been arguably the best player on Team Germany. In yesterday’s win over Switzerland, Peterka once again came up strong. And in case you haven’t seen it yet, check out the soon-to-be second-year player’s big score below:
Tournament MVP? Hey, if Peterka leads Germany to and wins the Final, then you can make the argument.
Buffalo Sabres presence still felt at 2023 IIHF Worlds
Team Canada bested Team Finland 4-1 to punch their ticket into the semi-finals against Team Latvia. In the contest, Jack Quinn, Peterka’s linemate, opened the scoring in the most Jack Quinn way possible, falling as he somehow got a shot off with a defender all over him.
Impressive, right? Peyton Krebs and Devon Levi are also part of Team Canada, with the latter mainly serving as a backup to Sam Montembeault and Joel Hofer.
This is the part of the show when you want to see the Sabres teammates going easy on one another. But then again, it will be fun to watch Tuch and Peterka squaring off and trying to get the best of one another, along with a potential Tuch vs. Quinn & Krebs matchup, or Peterka vs. Quinn & Krebs – the latter sounds especially intriguing.
One thing is for certain: We won’t need to wait long to see our favorite Sabres in action. Who will help their respective country capture the gold?
