If you have read every “How They Fared” article, congratulations! We are officially at the halfway point. In this edition, we take a look at how the Buffalo Sabres did in their two game season series against the Nashville Predators.
So how did the Sabres fare against the Predators? It’s time to find out! Buffalo and Nashville would meet up at Bridgestone Arena for the first meeting in January. Jeff Skinner got the party started just about 11 minutes into the first period. Roman Josi scored on the power play just a few minutes later and the game was tied after the first 20 minutes.
There were four goals scored in the second period, two from each team. A couple of minutes into the period, Dylan Cozens gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead. Buffalo cashed in on the power play as Victor Olofsson made it 3-1. Unfortunately for the Sabres, the score was 3-3 after the second period thanks to two goals in 40 seconds from the Predators.
Once again, the Sabres took the lead back thanks to a shorthanded goal from Kyle Okposo. It was a tight game and Jack Quinn would apply the dagger as Buffalo emerged victorious by a final score of 5-3.

Nashville would look to get a revenge in March. Spoiler alert, they would and it was in blowout fashion. In the first period, it was all Predators as they would have a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Early on in the second period, Cozens cut the lead in half.
That would not last long as the Predators scored just 24 seconds later. After that moment, Nashville took control of the game and scored four straight goals to make it 6-1. Tage Thompson finally stopped the bleeding on the power play to make it 6-2 heading into the third period.
Skinner made it 6-3 in the third but Nashville scored toward the end of the game and won the game 7-3. It was an absolute travesty of a game from the Sabres on home ice. Ironically enough, this loss took place in their March struggles as they tried to battle for a playoff spot. It was also their second game in a row giving up seven goals as they lost to Boston 7-0 at home just a couple of days prior.
