After a good projected first three months of the season, I predicted how the Buffalo Sabres will fare in the month of January to start 2024.

After finishing a projected strong month of December, the Buffalo Sabres will turn the page to the year 2024. In the month of January, the Sabres will have 11 games. Six of those games will be part of a two week homestand.

Before the six game homestand, the team will be on the road for two games. Up first, the Montreal Canadiens. I think the Sabres will start off 2024 with a victory on the road. Two days later, Buffalo will be in Pittsburgh where I have them losing.

To start the homestand, they will have to try and beat a team they have never beaten. The Seattle Kraken will be in town and for whatever reason, the Sabres can never solve the Kraken.

Unfortunately, I think that trend continues and Seattle will take this one. After Seattle, the Ottawa Senators will come to town. In what will be a spirited game, I think the Sabres will fall either in overtime or a shootout.

How will the Buffalo Sabres fare in January 2024?

Up next, the Vancouver Canucks. After three straight losses, Buffalo finally ends the streak with a victory. The San Jose Sharks are next and once again, I see the Sabres getting the win. Connor Bedard will be coming to Buffalo next.

The Blackhawks put up a fight but at the end of the day, I see the Sabres getting a victory in overtime or a shootout. To wrap up the long homestand, the Lightning will see Buffalo for a Saturday matinee.

In what will be another hard fought game, I predict Tampa Bay to win this game. To wrap up January, Buffalo will head out to California for a three game road trip. It won’t be easy as their first two games will be a back to back.

They will be in Anaheim for a matchup with the Ducks first. I think Buffalo will go to Los Angeles with two points after beating the Ducks. I think fatigue will be a factor in this one as the Kings will beat Buffalo.

To close out the trip and January, the Sabres will be in San Jose. Just like last year, Buffalo will sweep the Sharks. Going into February, the Sabres will be one win away from 30 victories on the season.
