Buffalo Sabres 75 Bold Predictions for 2023-24: Prediction 42

The Buffalo Sabres had some interesting combinations and numbers on their 2022-23 schedule that can be inversed in 2023-24, with one occurring in March.
On March 19th and March 21st, 2023, the Buffalo Sabres suffered arguably their worst two-game stretch of the season. After losing 5-2 to the Philadelphia Flyers on March 17th, the Blue and Gold faced the Boston Bruins and lost 7-0.
Two days later, they played the Nashville Predators and lost 7-3. And if you do the math, both opponents outscored them 14 to 3, which equals 42 when multiplied.
This season, they play the Vancouver Canucks on March 19th and the Edmonton Oilers on the 21st, Games #70 and #71 on the schedule. So if you caught that, they’re also playing their expansion brethren from the 1970 season on Game #70, so there are a lot of good numbers here to work with even if the latter number is only a fun fact.

Not only will the Sabres get their 42nd win of the season in Vancouver, they will win that game 7-0, before heading to Edmonton to face the high-octane Oilers. But in a complete 180 from March 21st, 2023, the Blue and Gold beat the Oilers by four goals, 7-3, and snag their 43rd win of the year.
On March 21st, 2023, the Buffalo Sabres were down and out, despite the strong run they made in the final week of the month and throughout their last half-month of the year in April. But following these two wins, the Sabres will know they got the playoffs more than within reach, and they should have plenty of momentum heading into the 2023-24 season’s final stretch.

From that point forward, Buffalo will be looking to maximize their playoff spot and perhaps even snag one in the Top 3 that I spoke about in a previous bold prediction. Now that we got the Blue and Gold clearly projected for the playoffs, what might these final 33 predictions look like? Expect a few postseason-based outlooks in the regular season’s final stages, and maybe even a bold prediction or two for late April.
