Buffalo Sabres 75 Bold Predictions for 2023-24: Prediction 61

The Buffalo Sabres start regular season play in two weeks, so with two weeks remaining before the puck drops, let’s make a milestone projection.

With just two weeks remaining until the Buffalo Sabres take the ice to start the regular season, it’s time for another one of those Numerology Bold Predictions! On October 12th, 2023, a new season will begin, but on January 4th, 2024, the Blue and Gold will take the ice for the first time in the new calendar year.

They also play five games in the first two weeks of 2024, and six across the first half of January. In my January 2024 predictions, I had the Sabres starting the new year off hot at 5-1-0. But the blemish in those predictions came against the Seattle Kraken, who I projected will beat them yet again.

To distinguish my real projections from this 75 In 75 Series, I want to go one step further, and project the Sabres to finish a perfect 6-0-0 in the first two weeks of 2024. And the schedule, with the Kraken being an obvious outlier, is more than manageable.

Buffalo Sabres start off the new calendar year 6-0-0, defeat Kraken

To kick things off, they have a rebuilding team in the Montreal Canadiens to deal with, before they face the aging Pittsburgh Penguins. Then, it’s onto the Kraken, before the Sabres face the Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks, and finally, the San Jose Sharks.

This isn’t to say they will win each game with flying colors, as the Kraken, Senators, and Penguins figure to be their toughest opponents. And there is always a chance one of the other aforementioned teams sneak up on them, but Buffalo is in an outstanding position to reel off six wins to kick off 2024.

Last year, the Buffalo Sabres surprised us with a few winning streaks, and that will happen at varying points this season. But to make this bold prediction worthwhile, it will happen shortly after we ring in the New Year.
